Goose Hunting, Day 4

Well, today was an interesting day! Melvin (Curtis' brother-in-law) and his nephew Morgan came down alllll the way from Lenswood, MB for the hunt this morning. To get here, they would have had to be on the road by 4:15 am. Can we say "Crazy"??? That is all that was needed to turn the hunters' luck from good to bad. They only managed to bag 7 geese this morning, but Morgan and Daniel still had a good time. Morgan was a little cold and slightly upset that his sandwich was so far away in the truck, but he toughed it out, like the trooper that he is, and you can see the joy on his face in the photo.

Since they still had 15 geese they could shoot today, Bob, Curtis and my Dad decided that they needed to have an afternoon shoot east of town on Hojnocki's field. Success again(since the company went home)! They managed to limit out and are still cleaning geese as this is being typed. I think that my Dad is praying secretly for rain so that he can sleep in tomorrow morning!

Don't these guys know that the only reason one gets up at the crack of dawn to go "hunting" (or whatever your outdoor activity of choice) is the promise of good bush food. We all know nothing tastes better then food when you've been roughing it. Even if its only been an hour or two!! I feel Morgan's pain.

Where are the hunting dogs? These guys need a good pair of Chessies to go hunting with them!

Daniel is the dog! He is too young to actually shoot anything so he runs out and picks up the geese.
