Goose Hunting, Day 3

Day Three was spent on Misko's field at the 11 mile corner. As you can see another successful hunt. Melvin, Morgan and Cam are coming from Lenswood tomorrow so that will be fun!

Goose Hunting, Day 2

Another Successful hunt. Day 2 was spent on the Nott pea field about 2 miles west of Roblin. Weather is changing so stay posted to see what happens on Day three!

2007 GOOSE HUNTING SEASON

We are in Roblin Manitoba so that Curtis and Daniel can go goose hunting with my Dad, Bill and my Uncle Bob Pollock.
The first hunt was this morning and they bagged 32 geese this morning, one goose being blue and six ducks between 7 hunters. Had a great time and can't wait for tomorrow. Here is the official portrait.



For those of you that may be concerned, Daniel's gun is not real. He is too young to shoot yet. His gun was carved by Papa and given to him at Christmas time about three years ago. If enquiring minds want to know, they were on Yellowaga's field this morning.

MIKISEW FISHING TRIP

For their last bit of fun for the summer, my Dad and Curtis headed up to Fort McMurray and took part in a fly-in fishing trip. They had a great time, but didn't catch as many fish as they could have because they decided to "specialize" and focus on catching big Lake Trout. Curtis said they would have caught more fish if they had just went for big Jackfish from the beginning. The company that they went with was Mikisew Sportfishing.
They had a great time and would love to do it again, but fly in to somewhere else.

This the cabin that they stayed in. It had no running water, but was heated with a wood stove and propane backup. They were not cold.

This is an example of the fish they caught. They only kept enough to eat while there and did not bring any home. They went to catch big Lake Trout, but ended up geting mostly Pike.

1ST DAY OF SCHOOL, FINALLY!!!!

Today was the 1st day of school at Onoway Elementary School! Claire has been looking forward to this day all summer and I called the kids at 7:20 am this morning and Claire was upstairs for breakfast fully dressed with her backpack on her back by 7:23 am. Daniel had a couple of wardrobe false starts due to the chilliness of the morning, but was ready on time. They took the bus to school and I met them there to get them settled. Claire's classroom is the 2nd one to the door on one end of the school and Daniel's is all the way on the other side of the school right at the entrance way.

Daniel and Claire ready to go to Grade 5 and Grade 2. Claire is in Mrs. Behringer's and Mrs. Pawlyna's class and Daniel teachers' names is Mrs. Fegyverneki (pronounced Fudgerneki) and Mrs. Campbell.

Daniel is showing Grade 5 boy style with a lovely orange dragon T and an undershirt to keep you toasty while waiting for the bus complemented fabulously with blue camo pants and brown camo skater shoes.

Claire is styling in chic pink hoody with a baby pink t underneath with a khaki cargo skirt and baby pink leggings. This is all teamed with Tigger socks and Barbie skater shoes. FASHIONISTA!!!

This is the only really new thing the kids experienced today. They rode the bus to school. Their bus driver, Mrs. Bobbin is great and I know that she will get them to and from school everyday! They will leave at 8:10 am and will arrive back home at 4:00 pm. They had a great day and Claire has made two new friends and Daniel knows one boy for sure that plays Club Penguin.

Our new Foster and Our New Fence

We have had the pleasure of sharing our home with our new foster dog, Lochiel this week! He is a Deerhound that was surrendered to my rescue group from his owner that he has known since he was 8 months old. She could not handle him any longer and had no where for him to stay while she went to Toronto for two months. He is a wonderful dog and had already got a home in Cochrane with a wonderful family.

He is just beautiful so I thought I would share his pictures with you.

Now onto the next amazing dog event that took place this weekend on our acreage. Curtis (most tolerant and wonderful husband in the world) installed our fence!!!!!! It is just off our back deck and is plenty big enough to get the crazies out of Chester so we just love it and it was so handy this morning when I had to get the kids ready for school. Here are a couple of pics of our new fence.

Chester James

Well, it has been over a month since I drove down to Strathmore and picked up a 4 1/2 month old greyhound puppy that had been running loose on Highway #1 with his sister down by Swift Current. A volunteer for Chinook Winds Greyhound Rescue Foundation picked him and her up on her way to Alberta and this boy puppy has been at our house ever since. We just adore him and it took the kids and I about 2 seconds to decide that we wanted to keep him and it took Curtis a week to come around to our way of thinking. He is a great boy and we have named him Chester because of his coloring and I like to call him Chester James. He is settling in wonderfully and learning to behave himself more everyday. My mom would disagree as she was introduced to the "Swamp Monster" when she was here last week, but he managed to make her laugh a couple of times so that is good.
